 In loving memory...

John Two Ponies: father, husband, singer, songwriter, guitar player, and artist extraordinaire died peacefully in my arms on February 22. John was born in Davenport, Iowa but lived in Virginia for the last 28 years with 16 of those years in Floyd. John spent much of his youth traveling throughout the United States, playing guitar and creating music. Thus his life was full of exciting moments, and he always had a story to share. Not until five years ago did he fulfill his greatest dream, becoming a devout husband and father. John was the center of our family and we loved him deeply. Although he will be missed greatly in this community, we can all find comfort knowing that he passed happy, loved and fulfilled.

Our little family includes: Megan Ihlefeld, 28, born in Lynchburg, Virginia; James Ludwig Von Ihlefeld, 4, and Evelynn Charea Ihlefeld, 9 months. Not to mention many, many, many family and friends who also share our loss. A ceremony commenced on February 28 at the house where we made a home. In John’s garden his ashes were spread; then our dear friend John Crow honored John’s Native American ancestry with a song played through flute. As friends circled around me and my children, one-by-one people told their stories and shared prayers. It was a memorable experience that will ensure that John’s memory will never die.

He was an unforgettable person who will live forever in our hearts. More importantly, his legacy will continue to live through his children and in this community.

[Megan]
